The Financial Supervisory Authority celebrates financial education during World Investor Week

Bucharest, 6 October 2025 –The Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) is organizing a series of activities and events dedicated to financial education between October 6 and 10, 2025, as part of World Investor Week (WIW, an international event held under the patronage of IOSCO). The aim is to raise awareness of the importance of acquiring specific knowledge about non-bank financial markets among students, young people, and the general public.

WIW kicked off on Monday at the Bucharest Stock Exchange with the event "The Bell Rings at the BSE," attended by students from the "Iulia Hașdeu" National College. They witnessed the symbolic opening of the trading session and participated in an interactive workshop on the capital market and investments.

As part of the ninth edition of WIW, ASF will carry out a wide range of educational activities. These include sessions dedicated to children from disadvantaged backgrounds, through a partnership with DGASPC Ilfov, as well as activities in several educational institutions: "Federico Garcia Lorca" Secondary School, "King George" International School, Secondary School No. 79, "Mircea cel Bătrân" Technical College, and "Nicolae Kretzulescu" Economic College in Bucharest.

Another major event will be organized in collaboration with the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee (COSR). This event is based on the strategic cooperation agreement signed between ASF and COSR, through which the two institutions aim to develop joint educational projects focused on strengthening financial education among athletes in Team Romania Olympic Team, as well as promoting Olympic values in society.

Depozitarul Central is joining the initiative again this year and is offering the public a free 30-day service for obtaining account position summaries, starting on 6 October 2025. WIW will also feature events dedicated to CECCAR members, in the form of technical sessions on the capital market.

At the same time, ASF will conduct financial education sessions in partnership with the Ministry of Internal Affairs at the Gheorgheni Gendarmerie Training Center, the "Septimiu Mureșan" Police Academy in Cluj-Napoca, and the Initial and Continuous Training Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The ASF Academic Laboratory and SmartFin ISF programs will be run at several universities across the country: the University of Bucharest, the Academy of Economic Studies, the "Aurel Vlaicu" University of Arad, the University of Craiova, the University of Oil and Gas in Ploiești, the "1 Decembrie 1918" University of Alba Iulia, the Romanian-American University, "Ștefan cel Mare" University of Suceava, "Valahia" University of Târgoviște, "Titu Maiorescu" University of Bucharest, and "Dunărea de Jos" University of Galați.

At the same time, ASF will participate in the annual meeting to be held in Sarajevo as part of the OECD/INFE Technical Assistance Project for Financial Education, which is part of the International Cooperation Program of the Dutch Ministry of Finance.

The Financial Supervisory Authority is a member of IOSCO and, in this capacity, supports the initiatives of the organization, which launched the World Investor Week concept in 2017, recognizing the need for financial education in the context of a changing financial market and behavior increasingly based on taking high risks.
